KUWAIT — August 12, 2026: Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs has thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of various food supplies out of the country using several trucks reportedly bound for Egypt.
According to the Customs administration, the seizure was made during routine inspection operations carried out by inspectors from the Sulaibiya and Shabra Al-Khodra Customs Departments.
Customs officers became suspicious of several trucks during the inspection. A thorough search of the vehicles reportedly uncovered large quantities of different food products being transported in violation of applicable customs regulations and laws.
Authorities did not specify the exact quantity, value, or types of food products seized.
The case was immediately handled in accordance with established customs and legal procedures. Necessary measures were taken against those involved, who are expected to be referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
The General Administration of Customs said the operation forms part of its continuing efforts to combat the illegal movement and smuggling of restricted goods and materials through Kuwait’s customs ports and border points.
Authorities stressed that tighter customs controls are important not only in enforcing the law but also in protecting Kuwait’s resources and safeguarding the country’s economic security.
Customs officials also emphasized that inspectors will continue carrying out their duties with heightened vigilance to detect and prevent similar smuggling attempts.
The latest seizure highlights the role of routine inspections and alert customs personnel in preventing goods from being illegally transported outside Kuwait.
