The Department of Migrant Workers has provided the necessary assistance to an Filipino domestic worker involved in the recent death of an infant in her employer’s Kuwait household.
In a statement released Saturday night, DMW expressed its “deep concern” over the case and offered its condolences both to the family of the child and the Kuwaiti Government.
The agency stated that “the DMW, through its Philippine Embassy and Migrant Workers Office, is closely working with Kuwaiti authorities, while providing the necessary assistance to a domestic worker in question, with due consideration to Kuwaiti law and the DMW mandate.”
The Filipino domestic worker reportedly put the Kuwaiti child in a washing machine inside her employer’s home.
Parents rushed to save their son after hearing his screams. They brought him to hospital, where he died from the injuries.
The DMW stated that the incident was an “isolated instance.”
It said: “We humbly assure you that this tragic event is isolated and doesn’t represent the values of Filipinos or overseas Filipino workers, who are known for caring nature, professionalism and dedication, as well as hard work.”
