The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait stated on Saturday, December 28, that they are “deeply sorry” for the incident involving a Filipino domestic worker’s alleged k!lling of a Kuwaiti child. However, they promised to cooperate with authorities.

The statement read: “The Philippine Embassy is deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic incident involving a Filipino domestic employee who was involved in the d3ath of a Kuwaiti in her employer’s home.”

It added, “We offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved and pray for them during this difficult period.”

The statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait also promises to cooperate with Kuwaiti authorities as they investigate the incident.

The Embassy said that “it is also assisting detained Filipino domestic workers, within the framework of Kuwaiti law and in accordance with the Embassy’s mission.”

The embassy was quick, however, to remind that this case was “an isolated incident” and “doesn’t reflect the character of Filipinos or the Filipino community in Kuwait who are recognized for hard work, reliability and positive contributions to society.”

Local news media reported that the unnamed Filipino worker had placed the child in a washing machine inside her employer’s home.

Parents reportedly rushed to save the child when they heard his screams. However, he was declared d3ad at the hospital.
