Filipina Nurse d!es in Abu Dhabi Car Accident

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (UAE) – A Filipina Nurse working at a Home Care Facility in Abu Dhabi, died in a fatal car accident on Sunday, October 6.

According to a Khaleej Times article about the tragedy, the nurse was supposed report for duty that morning but did not appear.

The report cited the Philippine Embassy, which stated that the Migrant Workers Office in Abu Dhabi (MWO), headed by Labor Attache Teresa Olgado is “working on the matter” and “talking with the family.”
Ronald S. Gamiao said that the Filipino Nurses Association in the Emirates, (FNAE), immediately took the appropriate steps to gather all the information they could about the road accident after learning about it via social media.

He said that the victim’s spouse was “coordinating” with the Philippine counterpart government office for the repatriation his wife’s remains.

“We’ve also received a number of messages from our members, and our fellow OFWs in the UAE, regarding this tragic incident. As a Filipino nursing association, it’s part of our mission as a Filipino organization to help any nurses,” Gamiao said to GMA News Online.

He continued: “We have contacted the company where the victim worked.” They confirmed that her death was due to an accident. They have also coordinated with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Department of Migrant Workers. We also contacted DMW to find out if they had been informed of the incident, so they could take immediate actions. It was good to hear that they had already taken care of the matter.”

Gamiao added, “We also sent our condolences (to the husband of the victim).”
