Filipino Executed in Saudi Arabia

MANILA, Philippines – A Filipino on death row in Saudi Arabia has been executed, the Philippine government said on Tuesday, October 8, 2024

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in a press release, said: “We regret to confirm that a Filipino was executed in Saudi Arabia on charges of murd3r.”

The Philippine government offered legal assistance and tried all remedies to save the OFW, including sending an appeal letter from the Philippine president to Saudi Arabian King Salman. The DFA stated that the victim’s relatives refused to accept bl0od money as a form of forgiveness for the Filipino. As a result, the d3ath penalty was imposed.

According to authorities, no other details will be revealed as the Filipino family has requested privacy.

‘Terrible tragedy’

The execution of a Filipino, who has not been named, was described by President Ferdinand “Bongbong Jr.” as a terrible drama.

“We had very few options left; there was very little left for us to do.” Marcos told reporters in an ambush before leaving to Lao PDR for ASEAN Summit that he had tried everything for many years.

He said that the government has been appealing this case for at least five to six years.

Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers at Villamor Air Base (DMW), assured the family of the executed Filipino that the government will provide assistance.

The family has requested privacy. Rest assured that we are assisting the family, and this is a matter which has been pending for a while, back when Cacdac was still working for OWWA ],”.

“Yun nga is the family requesting privacy. Galangin na natin ‘yung family privacy ),”, he added.

Cacdac emphasized, too, that the government has exhausted all possible measures in relation to the case.

Cacdac stated that the DMW and DFA are working closely together to repatriate the body of the Filipino as soon as possible.
