MANILA On Wednesday, the new operator of Ninoy Aquino Airport (NAIA), reiterated that airport fees will be increased in September next.
The New NAIA Infra Corp. posted on Facebook that “many have speculated about fee adjustments at NAIA.”
The NNIC stated that it does not have any control over the fee adjustments, as they are pre-determined by government.
The fee for domestic flights will increase to PHP390, up from PHP200. For international flights, the fee will also increase to PHP950, up from PHP550.
The NNIC has announced that overseas Filipino workers will continue to be exempt from international departure fees.
Air fares would increase as well due to the increased aeronautical costs among airlines.
Aviation officials wrote to airline operators earlier, saying that fees and charges at NAIA have not changed since the issuance Administrative Order 1, Series 2000.
The proposed regulated aeronautical fees “are lower than cumulative inflation from 2000-present, except for landing and takeoff fees that are bundled with lighting fees, noise and emissions charges, and recovery of costs for modernization of aircraft traffic control equipment which would enable the optimization runway capacity.”
The NNIC consortium, led by San Miguel Holdings Corp. and Incheon International Airport Corp. said that passengers would benefit from an overall improved experience due to the adjusted fees.
Since Sept. 14, the consortium has been charged with the operation and maintenance of NAIA.
It has offered a revenue share of 82.16 per cent to the government and would invest PHP170.6billion for the rehabilitation and upgrading of NAIA.
