SSS Improve Social Protection For OFWs and Thier Families

MANILA The Department of Migrant Workers has partnered with Social Security System to improve social protection for overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as well as their families.

Hans Leo Cacdac, the Secretary for Migrant Workers, said in a press release issued on Wednesday that many OFWs are unaware of the various security programs they can take advantage of as SSS members.

He said the partnership with SSS will help OFWs, their families and other social security providers to become better informed. This would be helpful for their eventual reintegration.

Cacdac stated, “We know that OFWs as well as their families are eager to learn more about how to make smart decisions for increased social protection and financial independence.”

The Memorandum of Understanding signed on August 27 between the DMW, the SSS and other agencies will launch a massive information campaign on social security benefits and programs for OFWs.
