The MPs Fahd Falah bin Jame’e and Falah al-Hajri as well as Hamad AL-Matar Osama A. Shaheen, Hamdan Al Azmi submitted a Bill to strengthen penalties for anyone who acts in the opposite gender.
The bill stipulates that those found guilty will face a maximum two-year prison sentence and a maximum KD 3,000 fine.
If the offender is employed in the public sector, the penalty will be more severe – a maximum three-year prison sentence and fines between KD 3,000 and KD 7,000. In every case, the person convicted is required to eliminate all evidence of behaving or acting like the other gender.
