How to Prevent Suffering a Stroke
A stroke can happen whenever the blood flow to the brain is cut off. Sometimes, it is caused by a clot or anything that blocks the flow of blood. Here are some ways to prevent a stroke.
Lowering the Blood Pressure
The number one cause of stroke is high blood pressure. In fact, it is the reason for at least half of stroke incidents. The normal blood pressure should be lower than 120/80 and if you have 130/80 then you have high blood pressure or hypertension. If you have hypertension, you must visit your doctor to regulate it. They will give you medications or advise you to change your lifestyle.
Avoid Smoking
Another cause of stroke is constant smoking. The nicotine found in cigarettes is said to trigger your blood pressure while the carbon monoxide can lower the oxygen in your blood.
Exercise
Having a stagnant lifestyle will lead you to diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. All of these make the perfect recipe for stroke. As much as possible, do a 30-minute workout, 5 times a week.
Eat Good Foods and Control Your Cholesterol
Eating healthy foods also helps you to prevent stroke. Eating fruit and vegetables from time to time will be very helpful.
