Maltreated and starved for two days – an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) had to suffer those things from her employer who simply sent her to the airport without even giving her salary.
In a video that was posted online, a Filipina domestic worker still wearing her uniform is in the airport on the way back to the Philippines. She was crying so hard because she was allegedly maltreated by her employer.
The Filipina was identified as Maribel Cantillo, 30-years-old from Aurora Province. However, after talking for a while, Maribel collapsed because she was not able to eat anything for the past two days.
Fortunately, other OFWs in the airport didn’t turn a blind eye to the pitiful situation of the Filipina. They gathered their money to give to the OFW. They also helped her when she collapsed.
According to the OFW, she was forced to sign a waiver stating that she won’t get any benefits for the past two years of employment in Kuwait.
The fellow ‘kababayans’ who helped her urged Maribel to be strong because they will return to the Philippines and finally be with her family.
