Family of the Late OFW From Kuwait, Receives PHP1 Million and College Scholarship For Children

The remains of the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Palawan who expired in Kuwait was finally brought home. Relatives and friends were there to receive her remains as they mourn for her sudden demise.

August 7, 2019 – the remains of OFW Kamish Nacasi was brought back to her hometown in Palawan from Kuwait where she lost her life.

Together with her relatives, representative from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) as well as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Provincial PESO Manager G. Richard Rebote and MIDOL Employment Agency received the remains of the Filipina.

From the airport, the remains of the OFW was taken to St. Peter Memorial Funeral where she will be cared of and an autopsy will be conducted as per the request of her family.

According to PESO Manager Rebote, the local government of Palawan coordinated with the family of the OFW for the fast repatriation of the OFW’s remains. Together with the father of the OFW, they went to Manila to personally ask the help of President Rodrigo Duterte.

President Duterte, in return, asked the help of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to facilitate that fast repatriation of the OFWs remains. He also ordered for the release of the necessary benefits and financial help for the bereaved family.

The recruitment agency of the victim settled for a financial help amounting to PHP1M. The children of the victim will receive a scholarship from OWWA and PHP100,000 financial help. They will also receive PHP20,000 burial benefit.

Additionally, a PHP5,000 monthly allowance will be given to her children by MIDOL Employment Agency.
