Labor officer in Kuwait saves OFW from kidnapping

Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz praised an employee from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Kuwait for subduing a Kuwaiti employer who tried to abduct his former Filipina household service worker while she was on the way to a hospital.

Dina Ponciano is an administrative staff in POLO who is bringing to the hospital Lolita Eroy in a diplomatic vehicle when Eroy’s employer, Mohammed Musaed Motlaq Khashman Alajmi, and two unidentified companions blocked their vehicle.

Alajmi and his companions dragged Liscano out of their vehicle and vehemently tried to pull out Eroy.  Eroy and Ponciano resisted the kidnapping as the Kuwaitis boarded them to the POLO vehicle, and Ponciano constantly pleaded for their kidnappers to return them to the Philippine Embassy.

Ponciano suffered from hypertension 10 minutes into the drive.  The suspects got scared and prompted them to return the car near the embassy before running away.

Baldoz commended Ponciano for being vigilant and for putting her life on the line while performing her duty.

POLO has filed a case at the Faiha Police Station about the incident.
