KUWAIT — A Filipina rape victim, who was seriously injured trying to escape from her manpower agency’s building, has been reunited with her mother in Kuwait.

Remedios Raymundo arrived in Kuwait together with representatives from her daughter’s manpower agency.

Her daughter “Kyla” (not her real name) was raped by the brother of her female employer last June 9. However, when she reported the incident to her agency, they locked her in a room.

As she tried to escape from the second floor of the building, Kyla fell, sustaining a broken jaw and left shoulder and spraining her right hand.

Kyla could not hide her joy at being reunited with her mother, after she underwent a successful maxillofacial operation to fix her broken jaw.

Her condition has been improving – her neck brace was removed and her face is no longer swollen.

Even though she is having difficulty speaking, Kyla thanked ABS-CBN for airing her message for her mother.

Raymundo, who saw her daughter’s plea for help on ABS-CBN, also thanked everyone who helped Kyla.

The Philippine embassy is now preparing to re-open Kyla’s case against her Iranian employer’s brother who allegedly raped her.

“We briefed the mother on the legalities on the case. And together with the subject OFW, they have requested to the re-opening of the rape case against the offender. The embassy stands ready to render full assistance on this matter,” Shiena Tesorero, vice consul at the Philippine embassy in Kuwait, said.
